As far as Sci-Fi series, recently I've really enjoyed "The Expanse" its realism (for a sci-fi series) and its great story and characters make it the stand out space series so far. Another space series, which for me totally eclipses Star Trek Discovery and unfortunately Star Trek Picard (both of which I was very disappointed with) is "The Orville". I know this might be controversial, but I feel this is the true successor to Next Generation. There's a bit of Seth Mcfarlane humour, but there are some very good sci-fi stories in there too, and I cant wait for the next series. You can tell that the writers and makers of this are true Star Trek fans.
As for Star Wars series, I really enjoyed "The Mandalorian" and the final 4 episodes of the animated series "Star Wars The Clone Wars" were spectacular, and exactly how the last 3 movies should have been. True Star Wars. "Westworld" has probably been my favourite non space sci-fi, with all 3 series blowing me away. But you really do have to keep your wits about you, and hang in there with the sometimes confusing story line till the end. My other honourable mentions are Vikings, The Last Kingdom, Doom Patrol, The Walking Dead. But with lockdown I've been catching up with a backlog of TV and have probably binge watched too much

Not seen Picard or Discovery never even heard of expanse:( Watched the rise of skywalker film the other night wasn't too bad. Not been watching too many new series of late , never seem to have the time to be there for all episodes. been watching lots of repeats of things that happen to be on when I am flicking, Red dwarf for instance. really did get worse the more they made. that new feature length episode that I did catch was a great disappointment.

knowing there two episodes each of Voyager, Next Generation and Deep Space 9 on each day is proving a little distracting while I am trying to work from home lol and they have all just started from the beginning

The Expanse is a great series. I’m going to try The Orville, sounds good so far.
My catch up is; Star Trek Deep Space Nine, I never got into Deep Space Nine. Two weeks ago, I watched first episode and it got me. Now I understand why its one of best Star Trek series.
Star Trek Picard is disappointing.
I would recommend Chernobyl.

Red Dwarf is my favourite comedy sci-fi series by far as well. I've seen them all loads of times. Other comedies that are a must watch are "The IT crowd", "The Inbetweeners" and "Father Ted". All old series, which no new series comes close too.
Thanks for the recommendation Michael - Chernobyl is going to be my next binge watch.

Never got around to watching inbetweeners although I did see the film once. Deep Space 9 is way better than Voyager - gets darker as you get toward the later series. Quark is brilliant character, Religious ones with the Kai as a bit rubbish. Big Bang Theory isn't bad and one of the better 'new series' if you can still call it new.

I would recommend Chernobyl. Great recommendation. I've just finished Chernobyl and it was a hard watch, but an excellent series. I think everyone has forgotten the horror that they all went through, and I hadn't realized how close we actually came to a truly global catastrophe. Watching this series should be compulsory, especially for supporters of nuclear energy.

I really enjoy the old Gerry/Sylvia Anderson marionette shows like Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray. Used to watch them in syndication way back in the 70's. Oh and UFO was pretty good as well. I like the 60's take on what the 2000's+ would look like. Amazon Prime has them for free, not sure about UFO though.

During my ongoing - living up tp my moniker - ;-( incarceration, I have been following a weird crime series called Millennium on DVD, circa 1996 -1999, which has nothing to do with Nordic Noir. Each episode – 45-50 mins – is a full story and was written by Chris Carter. It has 3 Seasons of 20+ episodes, of which the last episode in Series 3 relates to the X-Files. If you can find it, I would suspect if you enjoyed the X Files, then it could be you will like this.

I enjoyed the series, as it was darker than the X-Files, but cant remember much about it - 20 years and everything's a bit hazy. Which is a good reason to watch it again

I've started the first season of "The Boys", and after watching the first few episodes I'm hooked and really enjoying it. Its a new take on the superhero genre, and well worth watching - the second series starts on Amazon in a few days.

The Boys is great; season 2 just came out on Amazon Prime. And so is Raised By Wolves, a new series on HBO by Ridley Scott. I guess I'll just be watching TV all weekend with these two shows, Formula 1 at Monza, and a Starcraft 2 tournament.

For those who may be interested? Just stumbled across an update regards ST Discovery, kicks off Thursday 15th October in the US of A and on Friday 16th October in the UK on a streaming service beginning with N. Each episode ( 13 ) will be shown on a weekly basis. One can but hope it doesn't continue on the downward spiral of series 1 and 2? As Mr, Spock would say: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few $$$$.

I wouldn't normally have given it a second look, thinking it was some teen werewolf/vampire Twilight clone - But its actually sci-fi and well worth a look.
