Strictly for the Geeks Regards BOINC? Am back to crunching using the mini desktop. Am hoping there is a work-round having to use the monitor 24/7? Have the PC set to never go to sleep = 24/7 but the monitor / screen only shows On and Off. My initial thought was to use the slideshow screen setting which works. However, in an attempt to save on the power bill, what I'm hoping is that there might be a way to continue crunching 24/7 once the monitor is switched off. Monitor connections provide these options - HDMI, RGB and DVI. The PC provides HDMI and RGB. Internet access is 24/7. Thanks in advance 👍

Won't the PC continue running if you switch the monitor off?
In any case, modern monitors draw a small fraction of the power used by the PC while crunching.

Hi Brickhead, thanks for the quick reply. 👍
I'm using my new mini desktop with an elderly 22" tv/ monitor. The BOINC tasks are taking well over 4 days to complete. When the monitor is switched off the PC works OK for an unknown duration. As I'm now recovering from a new knee op, it's proving difficult to keep tabs on things as it is tucked away upstairs out of the way.
I had read some years back that there was a work-round but can't find the info on-line which was why I posted the query.
For the time being, If push comes to shove, I'll just have to grin and bear it.
Hope everyone is hale and hearty at your end?

Just picked up a Mac Studio last week (incoming memes) and the processor (M1 Max) is actually faster and wayyy more power efficient than my PC that has a 9900K and Nvidia 2080Super in it. Kinda shocked honestly. I might return it and get the M1 Ultra version which is supposed to be twice as fast. Depends on how the next week or so goes for me at work.
