I've been getting a bit computer nostalgic lately, and have been running some emulation programs for games - with varied success. Hatari, an Atari ST emulator is good, but a bit finicky to get working with most old games. Arculator, an Acorn Archimedes emulator, which is supposed to be very good - I haven't managed to get working on Linux yet.
But the most impressive have been on the Raspberry Pi....
To run Risc stuff, RiscOS is great on the Pi.
RetroPi is a very impressive retro gaming console, which runs multiple gaming console emulations and games.
But by far the best and my recomendation for anyone with a pi is an os called Pimiga. It is amazing, and contains access to over 4000 free Amiga games. So if you're interested in reliving your gaming youth ,then this is the one. The download is from the creators Youtube page, here.......

I've finally managed to get my 3 old retro machine emulators working in Linux.
I had to use RPCEmu for Archimedes RISC, Hatari for Atari ST and FS-UAE for Amiga. RetroPi is working too.
I transferred all the games (over 4000 of them) from my Pimiga installation on the raspberry to Linux running FS-UAE and they are working.
here's a screen shot of them running together on my machine.......

I've been playing Pacland with my Granddaughter over the past couple of weeks - showing her what computer gaming used to be like. I first played this almost 38 years ago at my local pub on a table machine..... Been trying out Baal, Cadaver and Gods too. Used to play these on my old Atari ST. They all play really well on the Amiga emulator.

The things I have don't go quite as far back as the Atari ST or Amiga, but I still have a couple of Roland MT-32s from 1987 for playing various DOS games on, like Monkey Island 2. ScummVM and DOSBox work beautifully for this, and fully support external MIDI devices.

The Roland looks like an interesting piece of kit - so much better than the Soundblaster that I used to run. They're holding their value on ebay too - £250+, not bad for 30 year old technology.
Retro gaming is an expensive business these days.
