A potentially very serious problem with the Asus Hero Z690 has recently been discovered.
During manufacturing, a batch of boards had a capacitor in the memory circuit installed reversed.
This causes problems ranging from the memory not being detected, to the mosfets in the circuit catching fire.
If anyone has this board, I would check the polarity of the capacitor as soon as possible.
Here's a picture of the component, with the one on the right correctly fitted.........

Wow, glad I got the Asus Prime Z690M - literally my only option for a microATX Z690 motherboard with DDR4. I wish mATX was the standard rather than ATX - so much more compact case-wise and the size is more than sufficient for the vast majority of desktop users.
