is this just in last day or two ? there are a lot of new names on the team but many joined before the forum was up and running. I have to admit to be jealous of some of our new crunchers. I spent years plodding along and now the new blood with their new fangled hardware will be flying past me. it will have taken one of the new guys a whole month to pass me lol those were the days, after the genome@home project ended and I was the only active member on team trying to overhaul mystery machine seems a long time ago when I got to number 1 just before you passed me lol

Posted their first unit 3 days ago I think. I'm jealous of their hardware too LOL....Quite a lot of years ago, a few people getting quite angry at new users passing them in a short time of crunching. Always with newer, more powerful hardware. I remember telling them that its just the nature of computing power and hardware. It advances, and advances exponentially. Some were even saying they were giving up certain DC projects because they were unfair - personally I think they had lost sight as to what the projects were about, and were taking the competitive side of it a bit too far. I suppose no matter what mega hardware you run and how many points you gain, eventually someone will pass you, and outperform your total by a long way - like in Seti lol. In a few years time, the new "Playstation 6", or even a "next-gen mega Raspberry Pi" will pass whatever total that we've taken decades to produce in 10 minutes LOL. Its a shame some of the very high, very quick Folding producers aren't on here because I'm really interested in what their hardware is. Icon55's points per WU is mind blowing, as are JealousZealot and Zaramin. They must be running mega core graphics systems - I hope they drop by and let us know.

It was icon55 I was particularly referring to -suspect a high end GPU or two or maybe points are different compared to the work units? they may be weighted higher as they are also working on Covid over at F@H. Not sure if it is still on there prokaryote ran up 69 million in 1 month. He was folding before me - I tried like hell to catch him when he only had 2000+ points. He will disappear - then out of the blue turn up for a few weeks and he's off again. I think he runs any new hardware in to test. Always comes back here though lost count of the number of times I have passed him only to be blown away in a fortnight lol edit just looked - he monthly total is still showing it was 61 not 69, but he might have been easing down, god knows what he had the month previous to that one, he was well down the list if memory serves and is now over 100 million ahead of 2nd place

Hi Bozo, 888,
I'm really happy that Team Picard has a forum again! Ha! It's the hare and the tortoise... guess who always wins in the end :-)
Last year I swapped out two 10 year old GTX 570 graphics cards with a RTX 2080Ti and a RTX 2080 and tested them out for a bit. Was up in WA, so not too hot in the summer. Now I'm down near Reno, it's fairly hot, but very dry so swamp cooler does wonders for controlling heat reasonably cheaply.
Will have at it for awhile, depends on the ol' power bill.

I thought you must have some of the latest high spec gpu's - but a 2080 ti.....awesome. I'd love one of those. Your production numbers inspired me, a couple of days ago, to start folding again and at least get past the 100 million milestone, but this time on one of my gpu's. I've always been a cpu cruncher in the past, but my gpu production over the past couple of days have put my old cpu numbers in the shade. I'll have to keep an eye on my electricity bill too - I've been caught out before. Try and keep going though. It gives us all a very fast moving target to try and keep up with.

Hi Bozo, 888, I'm really happy that Team Picard has a forum again! Ha! It's the hare and the tortoise... guess who always wins in the end :-) Hello you have been constant irritation since genome@home stopped and i tried my hand at folding lol. Chuffed you have found us. Always good to see a friendly face even if an infrequent poster. I wont be forking out for a top end GPU anytime soon lol Will just have to sneak up on you again when your not looking

Ha! It's been quite some time, folding off and on now for 16 years and Genome for I think 3 years (for me). And I totally spaced; Hello and welcome diego!
