Since I woke up early again, I currently have this playing on the turntable.

Count me in as an old fart too. I thoroughly enjoy those excellent 70's recordings (Eagles being high on that list), and having some of them in higher resolution than redbook PCM (CD format) makes it easier to live without a turntable. My ears aren't those of a youngster anymore, though, so in order to extract the full value from that extra resolution, I need to let in the dogs.
My taste in music is somewhat eclectic, on any given day the list might include - to name but two - Vivaldi and Rammstein. But I tend to avoid music where a couple of production effects are abundantly evident: Gated reverb on percussion, and pitch-adjusted (auto-tuned) vocals. The former was ubiquitous in the 80's, the CD release of ZZ Top's pre-CD albums is a good example (the vinyl releases were fine, as was a much later CD release without the alteration). The latter is common nowadays, but the most well-known example dates back to 1998, hence the nickname "Cher effect".

I think we're all old farts now Been listening and watching Wagakki Band from Japan lately - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ponTbDDMYjwI find the mixture of Eastern and Western music so different and interesting. And I can never get enough of Stevie Ray Vaughan - www.youtube.com/watch?v=klIIPsE9L74But my goto tracks in the car, tend to be from my youth - The Clash, The Stranglers, Thin Lizzy and of course the great Peter Green.

My next door neighbour has been drilling into the walls for the last 3 days. Thought to drop a subtle hint by playing the 'Sound of Silence' at a slightly higher volume than normal which didn't work... probably because he couldn't hear it due to the noise of the drilling. I then stumbled across this which piqued my curiosity, mainly because of the wording... youtu.be/9XaS93WMRQQEnjoyed it, even with the very sad reason for which it was actually performed.
