Just a heads up to GPU crunchers, that GPUGRID finally has active tasks ready to send - but hurry, they wont last long.
I managed to get 6 so far, but it took quite a few attempts.
The main issue once you get them is their size, and the GPU needed to finish them before they expire and give no points (120 hours) - they take a long time to complete....
RTX1060 6MB - 36 hours RTX2070 - 17 hours
Also, GPUGRID still doesn't work with Ampere 3000 series cards. I tried on my RTX3070 and it fails after a few seconds.

You were not kidding when you said you were trying out new things. RTX3070 , nice! how did you bag one of those, nobody has any gpu's available. Sadly the tasks for this take too long on my card. I might take 24 hours and then a, my network has disconnected and my points go down or b, it errors.
last time I tried to get some - there were no 'short tasks' available and I don't think they even run anymore - there are new options to select since I last ran it. Still plan to get to at least 50m at some point -probably more as I will have a new card when I go back to GPUGrid
- one thing I did when I ran this project was stop the cache - as you have noticed you get more points the faster you finish. Boinc for my other projects (Seti in particular which always ran out of tasks early in the week) had enough work to tide me over for a couple of days but that meant GPUGrid would download 2 long tasks (at the time i was running it) - my points always varied as second tasks was returned much later.
Edit - probably not a good idea if there are not a lot of tasks floating about though

I've had the 3070 since November. I managed to get it from a Swiss seller on ebay for a very fair price - and he sent it from Germany so there were no extra import/tax costs - It was in the good old days when we were part of the EU. I've been a bit disappointed in its performance at Folding, perhaps unrealistically expecting 5,000,000 PPD and only getting on average 3,600,000. It's still a very nice card though, and it uses less power than the previous generations.
The tasks from their server are running out fast. There are only 250 left to send right now.
And great advice about the cache. My second unit which was downloaded with the first, gave significantly lower points, as it started later - but as you said, I've had to cache a few units as they wont be available soon.

Crickey your racking up the points there - getting a lot more points than I ever got per task and several tasks done already - will wave as you fly past (i don't think you noticed me in RC5 as I sneaked past )
