Because of the mini heat spell we've been having here in the UK over the past week or so, my output has been a bit erratic lately. But the heat is coming to an end now, so I've started my server again. Its in the spare bedroom, which is south facing anyway and gets the sun all day. And with the machine pumping out quite a bit of heat too, the room was BOILING!! - with any luck it will be a bit cooler now.

all bar one of the pc's I run are in my bedroom so I know what its like - been a bit toasty of late - still hot tonight but hopefully cooler tomorrow. - its one of my laptop's that's seems to chucking out the heat. Still well pleased with my main pc that I had to change the fan on, not running flat out by any means but it hasn't gone over 59 yet and is running 3-4 tasks my old one was always in 90's running just two and that's before the pins broke and it just went 98 across the board lol Not going to push it but may try a couple more threads when winter draws in. I have added Rosetta to the laptop that isn't here in my bedroom as it was just sitting there due to no asteroids work. I have had no luck with my projects of late. Rosetta has stopped twice, Einstein once, asteroids hasn't had any work for a few days and seti has ended. two days after I updated all my boinc clients a new version is out so I am getting notices popping up again lol. so tempted to go back to folding but alas I think my hardware will struggle.

The outside temps have dropped quite a bit today, so I've even kicked in my main machine to do a bit of Rosetta - and my spare room temps are not too bad. Before today, I was sweating in the room after about 5 minutes. Thats a great result for your cooling repair, I think my core temp is around 65'c when the machine is running full tilt - so 59'c is great. Back in the day, when I had multiple dual processor, single core machines running Seti 24/7 in this spare room, I had a mobile air-con running constantly. It kept the room nice and chilly and worked great, until I received my electricity bill . I had to stop it and the machines, and rely on my machines at work.

just wanted to say Rosetta and Einstein really don't play well together. been fiddling with settings on and off for a couple of weeks just doesn't do what I want - too few cores and Einstein runs , bump it up a core so it does a rosetta task... Rosetta takes over and Einstein suffers - think I have it right on one client and it screws up the others lol That's it - its all good , just wanted to get that off my chest been driving me mad

lol, yea I just keep mine simple - one project per machine. I do find that Folding seems to stress my machines more than Rosetta though....weird.

We're taking a mini-vacation away from home (and people) for the weekend and my desktop hasn't crunched for 30 hours now (also out of contact on Onedrive)...
Hopefully it's just a power surge that turned everything off, and not the house catching fire, or someone that has broken in and taken it ;_;
(Also 31C is 88F)
Edit: Looks like it was just a brief power outage. Alarm clock and PC reset but oven clock was fine. Back to crunching again!

The weather has finally chilled enough that not only is my outdoor hobby impractical for all but the bravest, I have also been able to fire up one of the old crunchers at home and not risk a heat stroke. By now I reckon I've done my bit for the employer's team, so my Rosetta account is back where it belongs.

The cold months cause me to do more DC as well. If i can use my computer as a dual purpose heater/worker, I’m gonna do it! 🏖

Small wonder, considering that you're running Rosetta at one quarter impulse (judging by your combined stats). All my cpus are running Rosetta. (well one laptop is supposed to be sharing with Asteroids - but Rosetta takes over and all those tasks keep getting aborted) Rosetta is not the highest paying project to be sure.

Just switched my PC to Rosetta. Folding was generating tons of heat. Rosetta does too, but there seems to be less (subjective). Will probably switch the PC back to folding at some point. The good news is that I'm active folding again, have two machines, and a forum to connect with everyone on. Starting to come out of my shell.
